If you missed it, be sure to check out my post about the biggest trends for fall, part 1 of my recaps and what I wore this season !

DAY 4:

Day 4 was filled with filming and running from show to show. I started the morning with Glamsquad again before Cristian and I headed off to Hakan Akkaya, one of my FAVES who I haven’t seen in a few seasons! This season he presented a “glam rock” collection which was TRULY beyond words. The collection was filled with typical rock and roll style, black and white pieces, and some were boldly embellished with Metallic Pink or Silver accents, like studs  and spikes. The sounds of the pieces as they moved down the runway was what got me! I literally had goosebumps because everything was so perfectly rock and roll, yet incredibly modern and edgy. One of my favorite parts from his shows is the designer lap, Hakan always boasts his love for the audience and this season was no different, nearly floating with pride as he blew kisses to his legions of fans in awe with his beautiful collection.

Next up was Stevie Boi presents “M3TAL”  at the National Geographic Encounter which was a unique location in itself. Stevie Boi is an American fashion designer, actor and founder of the luxury eye-wear line & Brand SBShades. His designs are Fearless, sexy, and visionary, complete with metallic accents, daring designs and accentuated oversized sleeves. He has designed eye-wear for stars such as Kesha ,Beyonce, Madonna, Britney Spears, Katy Perry + many more.

I had a few other shows but because of scheduling conflicts and good ol’ NYC traffic I didn’t make them.

DAY 5:

I had a late start on the day fortunately so I was able to sleep in a little bit! My first show of the day was Cong Tri, a vietnamese designer who was showing at NYFW for the first time. I loved the fabrics and textiles used and the silhouettes were almost fairy-tale like, so whimsical and beautiful.

I used the rest of the day to catch up on work and emails and plan/prep for the second half of the week, which included finalizing shoots with photographers, finalizing show +1’s (when needed), finalizing show schedule, picking out outfits for shows and of course cleaning up my apartment from the tornado that i like to call fashion week.

I met up with Cristian later in the day and he came with me to Yajun. The collection was full of convertible, versatile, oversized pieces with a modern military-meets-bedtime vibe; oversized puffer jackets and wearable quilts and pillows. Her intricate detailing was more obvious in her earth colored designs, however her three black pieces were perfect none the less. I LOVED the designers choice of footwear, taking sock boots to the next level incorporating over the knee versions.

DAY 6:

Things really start to die down by the end of the week because some people cant take of work or come into town for that long. you really start to notice a difference in the shows, some of them were A LOT more empty.

First show of the day was best friend duo, Ghada Albuainain and Harlienz. They came together to present a new take on modest, traditional fashion from the Middle East with their jewelry and clothing collection. I brought along Olga from Misso Photography and we shot before the show and took advantage of the fresh snow outside since we were early. Make sure to to check out this super awesome video she made from the show! Some of my favorite parts of the show were the soft desert toned silks and delicate gold and diamond jewelry pieces that complimented  each look.

It was basically raining ice in NY that day and the sidewalks were a sheet of ice so I only made it to two of my five shows/events unfortunately, but hey thats the name of the game and sometimes safety comes first.

My last show was Chocheng.

DAY 7:

the final day was a true struggle, as it was for basically everyone else I talked to that day. My first show was at 9 am but I ended up sleeping through my alarm OOOPSIE. I was just so drained, I couldnt.

One of my friends Nate took me along to Calvin Luo with him which was a great show, as always! His pieces are always so pristine and this season was no exception. His collection had hints of the 1980’s and 90’s with a modern and fresh feel, complete with power suits with bold shoulders (80’s), rave style crop top’s (90’s) and latex trousers, zebra dresses which held Luo’s logo, and double faced patchwork wool coats.

I was super excited to be able to take my mom along with me to my night show. The Zang Toi Collection was house-mom goals. I need every single piece in my closet when I have kids, because I will rock them the entire month of July (and throughout the year they’re just that good). The collection was an ode to America, complete with country music and american flags (and even Donald Trump Jr.).

This was the first time I had been able to take her to a real fashion week show and it was super special for us to look back at the small runway show her and I went to three years ago before I moved here and see how far I had come. It was a really special moment to be able to share with her.

Last, but certainly not least, was Affair, a newer label but definitely one on the rise. The avant garde collection’s haute couture looks ranged from cocktail to evening-wear, and bodysuits adorned with elegant and chic long trains. This spring and summers hottest hair trends were not to be missed, each model’s do was decked out in the perfect amount of feathers, beads, and embellished hair pins.
