Summer’s over and the school year is back in action. If you’re struggling to get back in the swing of things, and get out of “summer mode”, one of my interns, Madison has some tips to help get you back on track!

Buy a Planner

I am the queen of forgetting things, and am always late, so getting a planner is essential for me. Once I get the syllabi for each of my classes, I put all the important dates down (exams, quizzes, papers, etc). Then I write down weekly everything that’s due as the semester goes. It’s so much easier to make plans, schedule meetings, hangout, etc. when you know when you have free time.

Make To-Do list

Whether it’s weekly or daily, make sure you know what you have to do for the day. Having in the back of your mind what you know you have to accomplish for the day keeps you motivated. Not only does it keep you organized, but it’s also so satisfying crossing off something you’ve accomplished.

Make Time for Chores

If your room/apartment is clutter than your brain will be cluttered. You need to have a safe happy place where you do homework, or relax. Having a dirty mind will just add more stress to your busy life. Keep your area clean and organized so everything else in your life can follow suit!

Have a Morning Routine

Try to wake up at the same time everyday. Once you wake up have a plan, whether it be to shower or do yoga. I wake up at around 8:00 am each day, turn on my coffee pot (that I already prepared the night before), stretch/meditate, get dressed, brush my teeth and everything, and hit the road. This routine keeps me in a rhythm, and gets me motivated for the day.

Rest Up!

Everyone needs there beauty sleep, but also you need to sleep to stay organized. If you don’t get enough sleep you will not be able to focus. Try to get 8 hours of sleep when you know you have a big day.
